Carol Ross

Carol Ross has received numerous awards in juried shows throughout California, including the Fine Arts Exhibit at the California State Fair, the Yosemite Renaissance International, the Vacaville Art Show, Tracy Expressions and various shows at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center.

She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the College of Painting and Design at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania. Her career has included teaching art in the Cleveland Public Schools, working with 22 art directors at a major advertising agency in San Francisco, and working as a Graphic Artist for the State of California.

Carol’s line drawings are familiar to Sacramento area residents as well as to Bay Area residents. For three years she illustrated a weekly column on bicycle tours, which appeared in the Sacramento Bee and seasonally in the Oakland Tribune and San Francisco Examiner. This was followed by three books published on bicycle tours: “Great Bike Rides in Northern California”, “Geared for Good Times”, and “It’s All Downhill from Here”. She also has illustrated articles on cross-country skiing.

Carol now divides her time between pastel, oil, and acrylic painting. Her admiration for the artists of the Impressionist period is reflected in her search for just the right colors to express a mood.

Carol's art can be viewed at the "Gang of Five" studio located upstairs at the ARTHOUSE, 1021 R Street, Sacramento California.
