Richard SteinList Item 2
A California native residing in Sacramento, Richard’s interest in art began early with more formal fine art studies in college. His work has ranged from drawings, illustrations and paintings to posters and graphic design.
With a recent focus on aerial-view landscapes, he has noted that California’s farms and orchards, when observed from higher altitudes, can reveal textures, patterns and colors that are not readily apparent at ground level. His works are mostly about his interpretations and manipulations of those textures and patterns. The compositions are based on real places, and while the layout is from reality, the fields can move into abstraction in the paintings.
He is represented by Archival Gallery and his work is shown there regularly.

Lucille van Ommering
Based in Sacramento, I am a photographer who uses color, perspective, and space to reveal states of mind that feel experienced rather than merely seen. I craft each image in Lightroom and Photoshop, shaping tone and atmosphere to evoke the quiet drama and emotion behind the moment. I exhibit my photography in several venues throughout the Sacramento region and have won numerous awards. I am a member of several art centers in the region, including Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Rancho Cordova Arts, Viewpoint Gallery, Yolo Arts, and the Sierra Camera Club.

Karen Burns
Karen Burns is a representational, classic painter with a twist! She especially enjoys showcasing vintage pieces and everyday objects that have been worn by time often placing them in a more contemporary composition. It is the history of an item that holds her attention.
She began in the art world as a professional photographer teaching still life for many years. It was rare to see her without a camera in hand, but over time it was replaced with a paintbrush. Photography honed Karen’s skills for composition, but she found that painting allowed her to further explore color and texture. So began the journey of working in oils.
Karen’s works have been in National and International Juried Exhibitions across the country — American Artists Professional League Grand National Exhibitions in New York City, National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, the International Guild of Realism, as well as local juried shows. Now her work hangs on the exterior of Sacramento Fine Arts!

I paint abstract floral and plant images because those are the pictures that seem to appear in my head and I love the variety they offer as a subject matter. The ideas for my work sometimes seem to come from out of nowhere and I tend to just follow the muse. Oil and watercolor are the mediums I am most drawn to and I work from my own photos whenever possible. I gravitate toward flowers because I find the shapes and colors full of beauty at every stage of their life span and they provide endless possibilities for expression. Leaves represent a metaphor for growth so they are a component in most of my work.
I try to grow everyday both as a person and an artist so my subject matter always evolves with me. I love color and composition and that is what always drives my painting style.

Mayra Martinez
Hola! I’m Mayra, an artist, storyteller, and graphic designer based in Sacramento, California. My work explores creativity as something that evolves, and connects people to one another. Through vibrant color and symbolic imagery, I create visual stories that celebrate curiosity, imagination, and the courage to create. In this piece, the heart represents the creative spirit of Sacramento. A city where art, culture, and community come together. Surrounding elements such as plants, flames, and creative tools symbolize growth, passion, and creativity. At the base, the iconic Tower Bridge anchors the piece to the city itself, honoring Sacramento as both my inspiration and my home. My goal is to create work that invites people to pause, feel something, and reconnect with the sense of wonder that often begins in childhood but should never be left behind. I hope to encourage others to pursue what lights them up.
